BMW resurrected the dormant M6 nameplate on the high-performance variant of the second-generation 6 Series released for the 2006 model year. Called "E63" (coupe) and "E64" (convertible) internally, the model features a high-revving V10 engine and sport-tuned suspension built with parts shared with the "E60" M5. It wears a reasonably subtle design that allows it to fly under the radar, and its generous dimensions give it the ability to seat four passengers in relative comfort.
Power comes from an "S85" 5.0-liter V10, rated at 500 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed SMG automated manual transmission.
